Black Hole Cosplay Event
Cosplayer Information

Thank you for your interest! We’re really keen to create a safe place for people to network with some awesome photographers and create some awesome photos.
What to bring:
You and your cosplay! If it’s a bulky outfit and you need a handler or if you want to bring a friend who isn’t in cosplay or doesn’t want photos, add a hang-out ticket for them.
Your ID - this is an 18+ event, as there will be a bar operating on site. Please bring your ID. If you are under 18, we’re sorry, but there are challenges around both the bar as well as photographing people under 18.
Not essential, but a moodboard with pose ideas or your favourite pictures of your character really helps get creative photography rolling.

What to expect:
A safe place to hang out with chairs and a bar - please drink responsibly and remember that cosplay is not consent.
Several different sets for photos. Currently we’re planning some stage curtains and fairylights for shots like those to the left, a vintage wall with a fancy chair or two that will look good with fantasy or fairytale outfits, and a space to get some cool detail shots of your props. Keep an eye on the Black Hole Cosplay Events instagram page for updates on the sets!
Our goal is to have several photographers around during the day - everyone has different styles, approaches and experience levels, and this is a great opportunity to meet them and see if you would like to book them for a photo shoot down the track.
The expectation for the photographers is that they will provide up to 5 edited images as TFP (time for photos/prints) and beyond that they can choose to charge a small fee to cover their time for editing. Photographers may also sell prints, but costs for these can vary wildly.

Be sensible and be safe.
While your replica firearm or sword may look cool in photos, convention weapons rules are there for everyone’s safety and all are set up to follow local laws. Black Hole Cosplay Event needs to abide by simliar rules. Use this event as an opportunity to find a photographer to engage a safe shoot with that kind of prop away from the event.
As an attendee you need to abide by the following:
No fireams including actual or decomissioned firearms, BB or airsoft weapons, gel blasters, sports weapons, metal replicas, cap gun, militaria or collectors pieces or ammunition is to be brought to a Black Hole Cosplay Event.
Do not bring darts, arrows or bolts, caps or load liquid into a toy capable of firing liquid.
Nerf guns and bows are allowed, but should not be capable of firing.
If you are carrying a prop firearm to the event, make sure it has an orange tip. It’s a good idea to have this be removeable for photos and then put back on when you’re not in front of a camera.
No metal weapons are to be brought to the event. This includes, but is not limited to: swords, daggers and knives, metal throwing stars, and metal chains.
Sporting equipment (e.g. baseball bats or hockey sticks) can still cause a lot of harm. Do not bring metal baseball bas
